R&D and formulation development
KCM Pharma's R&D team develops formulas from scratch to match a brand's audience and product concept, or adapts existing formulas for series production. Active selection, carrier system, pH balance, preservative system and sensory profile are considered together, and the result is assessed on a physical sample.
From brief to formula
Formulation work begins not with a product idea but with a set of constraints: target audience, sales channel, target shelf price, desired texture and the claims to be carried. Those constraints largely determine which raw material classes the formula can work with. Our team sets the brief into that frame, then prepares the first trials.
Sampling and revision cycle
The first sample is rarely the final one. Sensory characteristics — texture, spreadability, fragrance intensity, feel on skin — are judged by trying, not by reading. Several rounds of revision on a sample are therefore normal and are built into the plan. Being specific about the direction of each revision markedly reduces the number of rounds.
Scale-up
A formula that works in the laboratory may not behave the same way in a production tank. Mixing speed, heating and cooling times and tank geometry all affect emulsion structure. After laboratory sign-off we therefore run a pilot batch and verify the formula under series production conditions.
Formula confidentiality
Formulas developed exclusively for you are produced only for your brand and are never offered to another client. Formulas you supply are handled under a confidentiality agreement and are not shared beyond the technical team.
